Cell Phones and Telemarketers

Cell Phone directories may not be used for unsolicited telephone marketing calls, according to a 1991 federal law. The 1991 Telemarketing Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) makes it illegal for solicitation calls to be made to wireless phone numbers without clear permission from the individual to whom a number has been assigned.

Despite that ruling, many of us are receiving unsolicited calls on our cell phones. Personally, if I don’t know the number I just don’t answer the call. I have found that most telemarketers do not bother to leave a message.
