Week 6: Types of Bands. There are 4 band frequencies on which cell phones can operate. Domestically we use 850 and 1900 MHz bands. In Europe there is the 800 and 1800 MHz bands. If you travel outside the US you will want to get either a Tri-Band ( 850, 1900 and either 800 or 1800) or a Quad Band phone which has access to all 4 bandwidths. Thee Quad Band phones are often called “World Phones” due to their ability to work anywhere in the world
