APPLE RESPONDS TO IPHONE UNLOCKING

It was surely just a matter of time. The company who is renowned for the quality of it’s software – remember recent ads about viruses and the Apple Mac vs PC’s – would not just sit still and let someone, anyone breach the iPhone’s software.

Recently Apple announced that anyone having their iPhone unlocked risks the possibility of causing “irreparable damage” to the unit, rendering it unavailable for possible future software upgrades. According to a recent company statement, Apple has discovered that many of the unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the internet cause irreparable damage to the iPhone’s software”. By the way, Apple has a new release scheduled for later this week.

Also, in similar news, Apple has announced that it will not support service call on any other carrier, even if the handset is still under warranty.

Well, there’s always a chance that your iPhone will be okay. But, it’s a chance not worth taking – at least for me!

Apple New Family Members

Apple has been hard at work coming up with new and improved offerings for consumers to consider. The much touted iPhone has had a phenomenal launch. In an effort to put a iPhone in everyone’s hand, Apple has changed it’s pricing strategy but reducing the 8 GB unit by $200. The comparably-priced 4 GB unit will only be sold while supplies last.

Then there’s the no-phone iPhone, the iPod Touch, which has many of the same features of the iPhone but does not require a contract to use since it doesn’t have a phone in the mix.

Apple re-introduced the Nano with exciting new colors and, even more exciting, video. The Nano comes in 4 and8 GB versions.

iNspired by Apple’s Recent Announcements

For many of us Apple’s recent announcement has given us pause. Somewhere among this exciting array of devices is at least one that you just much have – I for one am looking closely at the iPod Touch. But the practical side of me hesitated. How on earth do I justify this? Well, SellyourCell.com has a solution.

From now through December 31, 2007 anyone who places an order with SellyourCell.com that includes an Apple iPod AND a Cellphone/PDA/Smartphone (meeting our Terms of Acceptance) will not only get the published price for each unit, they will also get an additional $10 per order.

Given our current pricing you might just be able to trade two relatively new and valuable units, for one brand new Apple device. After all, our wireless devices range in prices up to $150 and our iPods can get you up to another $100. That’s before the additional $10 spiff. Man, you’re there already.

Take advantage of this limited time offer as quickly as possible. Cash bonuses don’t last long!

Cell Phones and Telemarketers

Cell Phone directories may not be used for unsolicited telephone marketing calls, according to a 1991 federal law. The 1991 Telemarketing Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) makes it illegal for solicitation calls to be made to wireless phone numbers without clear permission from the individual to whom a number has been assigned.

Despite that ruling, many of us are receiving unsolicited calls on our cell phones. Personally, if I don’t know the number I just don’t answer the call. I have found that most telemarketers do not bother to leave a message.

New Apple iPods: iPod Touch, iPod Classic, New Nano and Amazing Price on iPhones

Time to Buy a New Apple iPod? (or maybe now’s the time for that iPhone)

If you’ve been thinking about a new iPod or lusting after the Apple iPhone, it might be a good thing you waited. Yesterday, Apple announced several new and exciting additions to the iPod family.

The iPod Touch is the iPhone without the phone (and without an AT&T contract). Featuring a 3.5 inch multi-touch screen, it offers 22 hours of audio playback and 5 hours of video. It is also Wifi capable which will excite many iPod users. You can actually buy music from the iTunes Music Store directly on the iPod.

The iPod Classic (new name) got revamped and repriced. The original price for the 80GB model got reduced $100 to a more affordable $249. For the serious music lover there is a new 160GB model which will hold up to 40,000 tunes. Man!

The iPod Nano changed its screen size to 2.0 inches with a price tag of $149 for 4 GB and $199 for 8GB. The new Nano ships complete with three games and comes in 5 colors including a special edition (PRODUCT) RED, for which a portion of the purchase price goes to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.

The iPhone will have a software update to introduce new capabilities. Apple is always full of surprises and even after the numbers came out that showed the iPhone to be the number one-selling Smartphone from any manufacturer, it got a price reduction yesterday. The 8GB Apple iPhone was reduced $200 from $599 to a more-affordable $399. (Personally, I think it’s a STEAL for the top-selling Smartphone!)

Wondering how to finance your new iPod? SellyourCell.com not only purchases used cell phones, we are also a convenient one-stop shop to dispose of your used Smartphones, PDAs and Apple iPods all while paying you to be environmentally responsible!

PARENTAL CONTROLS on CELL PHONES

As a parent of a teenager who spends far too much time on her cellphone, I was interested to see AT&T announces a Web site that allows parents to limit how many minutes teens can put on their cell phones, how many text messages they can send and receive, and how much can be spent on ringtones and games. According to my research, I may not be alone. Approximately 80 percent of American teens (ages 15-17) have their own cell phone.

This new service works on any AT&T phone bought within the past two years. Amazingly it only costs $5 per line per month. From a safety perspective, you will be glad to know that they can always call 911 -- even if they're past the set limits on minutes. Parents can set it up so teens can call or text them anytime – including after bedtimes, during scheduled study times, etc.

Yeah!!
