Sellyourcell.com has become an official partner of wirelessamberalerts.org, a not-for-profit group organized by the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) to promote rapid awareness of localized Amber Alerts. Visitors to www.wirelessamberalerts.org can sign up to receive local Amber Alert text messages on their cell phone.
The Amber Alert system was implemented following the 1996 abduction and murder of nine-year-old Amber Hagerman, and has become a nationwide system for alerting the public about child abductions. Past information provided by Amber Alerts, wireless and otherwise, have contained detailed descriptions of the child, their abductor, and the abductor’s vehicle. When this information is rapidly made public it can increase the likelihood that an abducted child may be safely recovered and reunited with their family.
